I’m usually at the car wash at least once a week to give my car a good clean. I guess that’s the downside of owning a white car, though as I’m waiting, it gives me the opportunity to take some photos around the area.

All photos are taken on the Canon AE-1 Program, 50mm lens on Kodak Tri-X 400 film.

Canon AE-1 Program with 50mm F1.4 SCC

This is where it all started. When I was younger than I am today, my father brought home the Canon AE-1 Program. It was a huge difference to what we were used to for the family camera which usually consisted of various types of compact point and shoots. This camera followed us on many family holidays and I became the defacto family photographer. The camera also followed me during my student days in university and I took it everywhere with me. Then during my early working career it was stolen from my house when I was away. Oh woe of woes…

What followed was a series of compact cameras of the film and then the digital variety but sumtin’ sumtin’ was missing. I then purchased the Canon EOS 1000d which got my passion for photography fired up again and this journey led me to the Canon AE-1 Program. The photographic circle of life! The camera is a joy to hold in your hands and it feels just right. The bright viewfinder is wonderful and it is what I imagine a camera should look like. The sound, the feel…… the feel the sound……… Ask me now, to sketch a camera, and it will most probably look like the Canon AE-1 Program. I’m gonna spend some time with various FD lenses and 35mm films to see what I can do. Stay tuned.

I am fortunate to get to travel for my work and I have had the opportunity to visit some wonderful places. I went to Taipei in Taiwan for the first time a few months ago and it’s an interesting place. If I had to describe it, it felt like a mixture between China and Japan. Here’s my take on the Taipei 101, once the tallest building in the world. Hope I can go back soon.

Our family holiday to England also included a trip to Paris and EuroDisney. We had an excellent time in EuroDisney and the kids are still talking about it until now!! Traveling around Paris was a breeze too, by using the Metro to get around. It’s super convenient and stops at all the landmarks.
